Olympic-style Weightlifting, or just Weightlifting, is a sport involving two movements:
The Snatch and the Clean and Jerk.
The Snatch is the first competitive movement and starts with the athlete grasping the barbell in a wide grip, lifting it off the floor to an overhead position in one smooth movement.
The Clean and Jerk is a two-part movement and involves the athlete grasping the bar in a deadlift-like grip, lifting it from the floor to the chest in one movement, and then overhead quickly in a jerking motion.
For competition each athlete gets three attempts at each lift, ideally increasing the weight for each attempt.
